Central School of Speech and Drama
Based in Hampstead, North London, the Central School was founded in 1906 and is one of Britain's leading educational institutions with many famous alumni including Dame Judi Dench and Natasha Redgrave.
The new building provides state of the art facilities for its students, including a wide range of flexible rehearsal spaces. Junckers SylvaSport Club floors were chosen for nine separate studios serving a wide variety of activities including dance, movement, vocal performance and drama. Two different undercarriage systems were used ; UnoBat 50 for the floors used mainly for dance rehearsals and 10mm profoam with the clip system for the multi-purpose areas.
UnoBat 50 system:
The system comprises of a 22mm press dried beech board secretly nailed to a veneered softwood batten, with specially developed rubber strips on the underside.
This provided spring resiliency and shock absorbing qualities that are required for dance use.
Clip system:
The Junckers clip system delivers medium shock absorbtion and resilience and is perfectly suited for projects that need low construction height.
Junckers 10mm thick Profoam underlay is rolled out over the sub-floor and then boards are simply joined together using Junckers own clips.
This system conforms fully to BSEN 14904 A3
