Dartford Judo Kwai
900 m² of Junckers solid hardwood floors form part of a remarkable new Olympic training grounds designed for Dartford Borough Council by the architectural practice Make.
Untreated Junckers Beech Harmony flooring, coated with a fire resistant lacquer, was laid as a simple panelling to the walls. Junckers Sylvasport premium was laid as floors throughout the building's walkways, stairs and studios including the main Dojo floor surrounding the specialist matting area where judo is taught. The flooring was directly bonded to the sub-floor using an approved adhesive, as per manufacturers recommendations.
The architects were Make architects; specialist interior fit out was by Cre8 Interiors.
This project recently won ‘Best Public Sector Funded Leisure Building’ at Property Week’s Retail and Leisure Awards Ceremony.
